Lady Dons Lose Final Home Game

USF senior forward Alexis Mielke gets trapped by LMU freshmen defenders Marissa Zamora and Brittney Sanford in Sunday’s game at Negoesco Stadium. The women’s soccer team had their last home game and had their traditional senior-day ceremony. Five seniors were presented with flowers from their fellow teammates before they took the field against WCC rival LMU. Unfortunately, the Lady Dons could not pull out the win and lost 2 – 0. The Dons were down 1 – 0 at the half after LMU’s Amanda Lernor scored at the 18 minute mark. The Lions got another goal in the second half this time scored by LMU’s Kristen Garcia. LMU had 13 shots on goal while the Dons had 8 shots. Senior Katherine Kimure led the Dons with five shots on goal giving her 48 shots on the season. The Dons have their final game on Saturday against Pepperdine away in Malibu. – EH
