Melissa’s Mix Tape: Staying Pumped When School Gets You Down

The workload is finally catching up with us. The first month of school it feels easy to skate by, do the readings and write the papers right before class. Midterms are coming up and the assignments are piling on. It’s hard to trudge through it all. I am here to help. This mix is for three in the morning when you’re finished with two reading assignments but still have an essay to go. It’s for six am when you’ve decided it’s best to just stay awake instead of taking that two hour power nap. This mix is for keeping you up and rejuvenated without rocking so hard you wake the neighbors (though get ready for the rock the neighbors awake mix in the near future). Here’s the mixtape:

1) “The Capitol” by Visqueen off of “Message to Garcia”

2) “I Was Born (A Unicorn)” by the Unicorns off of “Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone?”

3) “10 A.M. Automatic” by the Black Keys off of “Rubber Factory”

4) “Don’t Slow Down” by Matt and Kim off of “Grand”

5) “Power Doesn’t Run on Nothing” by the Thermals off of “The Body, The Blood, The Machine”

6) “Changing of the Guard” by Parts & Labor off of “Stay Afraid”

8) “Single Again” by Fiery Furnaces off of “EP”

9) “Girl O’Clock” by the Dismemberment Plan off of “Emergency & I”
