Resources for students to see what’s behind the scenes
The Foghorn does not want to just regurgitate the facts to you— as members of the University community, you should see them yourself. And it is easier than you think. Here are some of the places you can look for and request data about the school’s finances, mission and operations.
Board of Trustees Agendas
The USF Board of Trustees website recently got some new additions. In addition to information on the members of the board and its bylaws, there are now pages that show what was discussed at each quarterly meeting.
The Center for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness (CIPE) gathers and analyzes data about the school, which is then used to evaluate the USF’s operations. You can submit a data request by filling out a simple form in the “Welcome” section of the CIPE’s website. As long as the description of the data you want is specific, they will get it to you within a few weeks.
The Center’s page also has commonly-requested data, like statistics on faculty and staff diversity, as well as student enrollment trends.
USF’s Operating Budget
The Office of Planning and Budget is one of the offices under CIPE, and its focus is on the development of the school’s budget. The office releases a presentation of visual breakdowns of USF’s operating budget each year, as well as forecasts for the future, under the page titled “Office Reports.” The budgets are approved in March of the previous academic year. The page also has reports on recommendations for tuition increases, staff and faculty audits, and more.
