DJ Pluto: Ella “L” Trinh, senior biology major, has been DJing for 2 weeks,
- “I’ve always really been into music but I got more into it this past year. I’m involved in KUSF as a radio DJ and I think music is a beautiful way to bond with the community. I’m invested with the rave community and there’s a lot of love in that. I think I really enjoy taking my friends out to events, it’s a great way to bond.”
DJ Muze: Anthony Musleh, senior finance major has been DJing for 7 years.
- “I’m a music producer, so making stuff is very close to my heart. It’s the best feeling in the world, when you play a song that you’ve made or resonate with and everyone else resonates with you. It’s like, you’re taking a risk, not every song will work, but in the case that it does, it’s very cool”
DJ Carrot: Carolayne Lage, junior Media Studies major, has been DJing for 1 month.
- “Originally my friend showed me a DJ app on our phones and I started playing around with it. I really enjoy music, I go to concerts all the time. I just love music, and I translate the way I feel through music and I thought DJing would be fun. The DJ board I have, my friend gave to me and said “It’s your journey now.” I DJed my friend’s party, that’s really how I started but it’s progressed over the month.”
DJ Pogi: Logan Kong, junior psych major, has been DJing for 1 year
- “I think it just gives me something to do while I listen, I think a good portion of my life I was like ‘Oh I could be DJing right now,’ I have all the resources and my dad and everything and I would just sit in my room and listen to music and think about how I could be mixing right now. There’s an incentive for money, but it’s really love for music.”

DJ Izzy: Isabella Quiroga, sophomore architecture major has been DJing for 4 months.
- “I really have control when mixing and you have the power to create whatever you want. Even my major is creative, I feel like I’m always like that, and it’s just fun to bring it.
DJ Urbethh: Shubh Nainani, senior marketing and business analytics has been DJing for 6 months.
- “I’m a marketing major and I do everything for the customer, even when I play music even if I like it. If I don’t see the crowd reacting enough I’ll change it accordingly, bring more beats in and add a new song to it. For me, it’s completely dependant on the crowd that is listening to me
Judges: “What’s something you look for in a contestant?
Andrew Borgelt: CEO of BLAP Productions, co-founder of Northern Nights Music Festival
- “Authenticity and being true to yourself.”
Lyja Stadlen-Brown: DJ and Product Quality Manager at Eventbrite
- “[It’s] really interesting to see what kind of a story each person is able to piece together in the very limited amount of time they have to showcase their skill. That’s to me a very big part of DJing, that you’re telling a story with your music.
Jacki: Jacqueline Kizo, junior international business major, 2024 DJ competition winner
- What she looks out for: “Definitely smooth transitions and track selections. I feel like DJing is 90% track selection and 10% skill, and your energy sets the tone for what you bring, that’s what I stand by.”
