Women’s soccer had a strong offensive outing Nov. 1 against the University of San Diego (USD)Toreros , winning 4-1. Their four goals marked their highest goal total in a game since Sept. 10 of the 2023 season, when the team won 5-2 against UC Riverside.
Against USD, three Dons notched their first goals of the season, highlighted by first-year forward Alicia Osegueda’s breakout game, who scored the team’s first two goals of the game.
Sophomore forward Kate Zimmerman and junior midfielder Sydni Yoshida joined in on the fun by scoring a goal of their own, pushing the lead to 4-0. A late score by USD in the 79th minute prevented a shutout, but still the Dons won comfortably in their second to last home game of the season.
Reflecting on her first two collegiate goals, Osegueda said, “I’m feeling very excited. I’ve been waiting to score for so long, and I’ve been on the door getting scoring opportunities, but I finally got to put it back in the net, and I just feel so happy.”
As of publication, the team is 3-9-2 on the season, sitting ninth in WCC standings. They play their final road game on Nov. 5 at Washington State and conclude their season at Negoesco against Pepperdine on Nov. 8.
