The beauty of San Francisco is the diversity that lives within every district. We often categorize ourselves with a district’s persona, but it is always fun to get out of your usual district and try something new. This week we recommend the Marina district, where there is everything to do from boutique shopping to amazing night life.
During the day you want to be shopping on Chestnut and Fillmore streets. This is where you’ll find your chain stores like Brandy Mellville and Urban Outfitters, as well as cute boutique stores like Fawn and De Novo. For lunch stop by A 16 to fix your Italian craving. If you’re looking for something more meaty, there’s the always fabulous Super Duper Burger right next door. For dessert try Susie Cakes Bakery. The red velvet cake is delectable and their cupcakes are worth every calorie.
The Marina has grand night life. You can start your evening at De La Rosa, a modern italian restaurant. The pappardelle napoletana is highly recommended. If you’re looking for something fun be sure to check out Tacolicious. Warning: their tacos are delicious and huge. Be sure to try their traditional carnitas taco.
If you want something more casual check out Perry’s on Union street. Perry’s is an American restaurant with hidden treasures. Start off your evening with the tuna tartatre tacos and end the night with the Old-Time Apple Brown Betty with vanilla ice cream! If it’s a rare warm night be sure to sit outside for some great people watching to go with your drinks!
As college students we have the natural urge to want to party. The Marina has some of the best lounges in San Francisco. We recommend starting your night off at KT’s on Fillmore street. KT’s has a pretty, young, and chic-casual crowd. The Saturday night DJ Marc never fails to play great songs. If you want to dance be sure to stop by.
From there make your way over to Matrix. Matrix is more of an older crowd with a slick ambiance. After you’ve had a taste of Matrix head on over to Circa. This is again a great place to dance and have a fun time. Circa has lots of seating areas which is convenient for you girls in high heels. Circa’s DJ Eddy spins some sexy songs and guarantees you’ll have a fun night out.
The Marina has a fun scene, with everything from preppy boys in their Ralph Laurens to pretty girls in their high-heels. No matter what you’re in the mood for, you can’t go wrong in the Marina. Don’t go to your usual spot this weekend, and be sure to try something new in the Marina.
