We LOVE Britney Spears. Maybe it’s the fact that she was our music idol through our awkward pre-teen years, was the reason we got in trouble for altering our uniforms in high school and still makes the music that never fails to get girls on the dance floor, that make us adore her despite all her ups and downs.
Ms. Spears caused a commotion in San Francisco’s Castro District two weeks ago with her appearance filming a mini concert for Good Morning America in one of her first live concerts in over a year. This comes on the tail of her highly anticipated and majorly successful Glee episode cameo.
So has she moved past her bald and confusing days? I truly hope so, and thing seem to be looking up for the pop princess. Her seventh album “Femme Fatale” opened at #1 (making her the first female ever to have six #1 album debuts), her upcoming tour begins in California in June and she was just featured in an MTV special documentary behind her recent Las Vegas performance, which was kicked off by DJ Pauly D [Jersey Shore fans anyone?].
Although there is some controversy over the fact that Brit herself doesn’t seem to have written any of the songs on her album herself, tracks like “Big Fat Bass” feature sick guests like Will.I.Am and the electro pop meets booty grind is guaranteed to make you want to shake it, songwriting ability [or lack thereof] notwithstanding. I would argue that Britney never really went anywhere, so while this isn’t a comeback, she’s definitely showing us that despite her impending dirty thirty years old, she’s still the music icon we feel in love with over 15 years ago.
Femme Fatale is now available for sale in stores and on iTunes. I’ve got it, it rocks, and you should too. She’s a little quirky and so much that it seems to be just enough, and somehow she’s made us her biggest fans all over again, and again and again.
