“In a world where money and educational experience did not matter, I would be a Zamboni driver for my local ice rink back in Boulder, Colorado. I grew up basically living in ice rinks, as my dad was a hockey coach and both my brothers played. I remember the Zamboni man would always let me ride with him, and it is one of my favorite childhood memories. It is a job that I could find lots of satisfaction in.” – Serena Finney, Opinion Editor
“If money were no object and educational background didn’t matter, I would be a librarian. Although it sounds easily accomplishable, I would never want to shell out graduate school amounts of money on a library sciences degree (sorry, Dewey). I always loved the library as a kid and read voraciously: it made me fall in love with storytelling. Being paid to be human Google while wearing comfortable clothes in a cozy environment, sign me up!” – Madeline Knapp, General Reporter
“If money and an educational background did not matter, I would be an astrologer. Of course, being from LA, I have grown up knowing everything there is to know about zodiac signs, the stars, and planets. I already consult my friends on their signs and how planetary alignments are going to affect them, so I would love to share my knowledge with others outside of my circle. (Fun fact: We are currently experiencing a mercury retrograde, and those with major placements in Pisces, Scorpio, Taurus, and Sagittarius will be heavily affected.)” – Dakota Duran, Managing Editor
“If I were in a world where money and an educational background did not matter, I think I would be an artist. Painting, sketching, photography, and all. I can see myself spending all my time in a studio covered in paint, pastels, and graphite, filling canvas after canvas. I have always done art, taking classes in elementary and middle school. Once I was too busy for classes, and life got more serious, I continued to do art in my free time whenever I could. It has always been my favorite way to decompress and a way to express myself that truly resonates. Unfortunately, in the real world, it is tough to make money from art and to afford all the materials to make the art. However, in my little dream world, I would not care about people wanting to buy my art; I would just create what speaks to me.” – Samantha Avila Griffin, Photo Editor
“In a world where money and educational background no longer matter, I would work at a small, family-owned bookstore. I love to read and thoroughly enjoy going to bookstores, especially the small, cozy ones. Being able to look at books and read behind the counter all day sounds so relaxing. I would also enjoy discussing books with customers and giving recommendations.” – Francesca Cortellessa Hale, Scene Editor
“If money and education didn’t matter, I’d want to be a roadside flower vendor, the kind you see on busy Indian streets, sitting behind buckets of marigolds and roses. There’s something peaceful about their world. The smell of flowers mixes with the noise of traffic, yet they seem calm, not constantly chasing something more. Watching them makes me think about how often we forget to be content with what we already have. We’re always reaching for the next thing, more success, more comfort, more everything, while they seem genuinely satisfied with the little they own. I’d want to live like that, grounded and grateful, not always wanting more but learning to find peace in enough.”- Mariha Bukhari, General Reporter
