As the holidays approach, the Foghorn editors recommend our favorite seasonal movies.
Dakota Duran, Opinion Editor: “Coraline” is always my go-to movie when the fog begins to roll in. There is a spooky feeling for October, but the weather in the film matches November’s. This is my comfort film when it’s cold outside, and I love pairing it with tonkotsu ramen and hot green tea.Phebe Bridges, News Editor: Hate-watching “Turkey Hollow,” a Jim Henson movie that you probably haven’t heard of, is a tradition that my family has had for around six years.John Lindroos, Sports Editor: I can watch “The Shawshank Redemption” really anytime of the year, but I’ve watched it the most in the fall, so I’ve always associated it with the fall. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are a killer duo. Elina Graham, Scene Editor: I do my yearly “Napoleon Dynamite” rewatch in the fall. It is the perfect movie to watch as I’m relaxing in bed with my tea and my Paddington stuffed animal. Jordan DelFiugo, Managing Editor: Whether it’s the snug, cable knit sweaters, the scenes of central park littered in fall leaves, the dramatic New Years Eve love confession, or the jazzy soundtrack, “When Harry Met Sally” has become synonymous to me with fall and the holiday season.
Jordan Premmer, Editor-in-Chief: As soon as Halloween ends, I love getting into my fuzziest pajamas, having a mug of warm apple cider, and watching the Christmas comedy, “This Christmas.” It’s hilarious and super nostalgic because I grew up watching it with my family every year at the start of the holiday season.
Sophia McCrackin, Chief of Copy: The 1982 film “The Man From Snowy River” is always such a great watch thistime of year. Set in the sweeping Australian outback and based on a poem by Banjo Paterson, this movie is part romance and part old school western.
